Andrew Brown
Investment Manager

Andrew is an Investment Manager at Dundas. As a member of the investment team he is responsible for conducting fundamental research and collaborating with the team to build portfolios of exceptional dividend growth companies.

Andrew’s first job was in a scrapyard, where he was tasked with sifting through piles of old metal to find those pieces that could have lasting value, and in many ways his role has not changed all that much since then.

Prior to joining Dundas, Andrew spent 18 years at abrdn and its predecessor Aberdeen Asset Management, where he was responsible for managing a range of quality-focused strategies across Global and Emerging Market Equities, as well as a number of sector, regional, and country specific strategies.

When he’s not at work you can find Andrew enjoying the outdoors, playing sport, and taking great joy in watching his four young children growing up.

Andrew holds a BSc in Geography from the University of St Andrews and is a CFA charterholder.

David Keir
Partner

From an early age David has been interested in finance, either through hiding his savings under his bed in a money box or by helping his Mum and Dad pick stocks and shares to invest in.

David joined Dundas in 2021 as an Investment Manager. He is also a partner in the business and leads on Stewardship.

His career in finance started with a B Com Honours in business studies and accounts from Edinburgh University and then progressed to becoming both a Chartered Accountant (CA) and Chartered Financial Analyst.

Examining and understanding the finances of companies is what David knows best and he enjoys being able to do that on a daily basis at Dundas in his role in the investment team.

Married with two children, David also enjoys playing golf and watching football and rugby. He had a hole in one at golf aged 9 and claims that he was the youngest person in the UK to achieve such a feat at that time. We have been unable to corroborate this.

David also sits on the True Potential Investment Committee as an Independent member.

Alan McFarlane
Senior Partner

Alan is Dundas' senior citizen and Senior Partner. When starting out in 2010 he wanted Dundas to be the simplest investment business possible where he, colleagues and clients invested together to enhance the long-term value of their savings by keeping inflation’s corrosive effect at bay. With only one degree and no CFA, what Alan brings to the firm and its portfolios is decades of experience investing and running investment businesses, alongside unrepentant impatience with and intolerance for pointless complexity and illogicality. He aspires to being Dundas' CSO - Chief Simplification Officer. He chairs the Partnership and the Investment Committee and is a lead manager for the Heriot Global Fund in which most of his own savings are invested.
